AURORA FIREWORKS

Aurora Fireworks is a family-run business started by Robert Byles in 1996. Robert has over 35 years of experience working with fireworks, initially conducting displays for British Legion clubs and local schools in Essex and West Sussex. When new legislation was introduced to prevent mortar shell use by the public, Robert decided to take the bold step and create his own firework company.

Robert has passed his passion for fireworks to his sons, Stephen and Jason. Stephen is Technical Director of the company and has achieved a Fire & Safety Management BSc and Fire & Explosion Engineering MSc. This gives Aurora Fireworks the expertise to carry out firework displays in very demanding locations, such as on the roof of the then tallest residential building in the country, The Manchester Hilton. Jason is the company’s operations manager who is tasked with organising the preparation of each display and ensuring the logistic side of each event runs smoothly. With support from Robert’s wife Paula in the office, it truly is a family business.

Award Winning Displays

Aurora Fireworks imports its own fireworks from China, each one designed to cater to the desired market, from heart shells at weddings, lancework displaying corporate logos and quiet shows for those venues who have nearby neighbours or livestock.

Aurora Fireworks has visited its supplier in China to ensure the quality of the fireworks and that the staff work in good conditions as part of its moral policy. All products are registered with HSE, have a Competent Authority Document and fully conform to the relevant British Standard specifications. Aurora Fireworks are members of the British Pyrotechnics Association (BPA)

Since 1996 the company has gone from strength to strength, conducting shows for many prestigious clients and ‘A listers’. Corporate clients have included BMW, KIA, Royal & Sun Alliance, Sussex County Cricket Club, Horsham Sports and Social Club, Financial Times and the Novartis Group to name a few. Aurora Fireworks has also supported local charities to raise funds including giving terminally ill children the chance to have their wish fulfilled.

With skill and imagination, Aurora Fireworks’ team create shows to suit both the venue and the client. In addition, a display will be handpicked to complement the venue and surroundings to highlight, for example, a lake or an ancient building, thus ensuring that the spectators will be left with a very special experience to remember. When planning displays, a site visit is conducted. This is followed by the production of a dynamic Risk Assessment for the venue. Every single one of our displays is bespoke, catered to the wishes of the client and any limitations of the venue.

In 2021 Aurora were delighted to be crowned British Firework Champions! A team of 16 crew accompanied by wives and families travelled to Plymouth to fire a 10-minute display on the Mountbatten Pier. Weeks of preparation and hard work went into the display and the whole team were thrilled to bring home the trophy.
